Pokey LaFarge headlined this year’s Record Store Day event at Vintage Vinyl and had a huge crowd spilling out onto Delmar to catch the performance. While the store had a full day of bands, jet lag had me limited to just catching Pokey and the always fun Bruiser Queen.
While it was a bummer to say goodbye to the summer concert season, 105.7 the Point put on one last Big Summer Show to help ease us into fall. The afternoon was a great showcase for all things rock, from the raw brutality of Royal Blood to the confetti-caked Ok Go. Capping it off with the slick sounds of Bastille, these Big Summer Shows have been great “mini-festivals” to catch favorite and new-favorite bands without the camping or crowds of the concert festival circuits.

Outkast. Outkast. Outkast.
While that was the supreme highlight for the entire weekend, LouFest Day Two still had a ton of fun surprises from Ume annihilating the first set of the day to getting to see Grouplove goof around backstage moments before their rousing set.
Our buddies over at Speakers in Code hosted an evening with Tift Merritt and David Wax Museum for their 3rd birthday bash, and the crew was kind enough to let me shoot the festivities at Off Broadway. The seated floor made navigating pretty tough, but kudos to the SiC folks for another milestone and throwing a great Saturday evening bash.
