Even though the new album Free the Universe isn’t out for another week on 4/15 (happy tax day y’all), Major Lazer brought their bombastic party through The Pageant to get fans amped up for the release. Main frontman Diplo, now accompanied by Jillionaire and Walshy Fire, kept renewing the party’s excitement, whether shooting confetti canons, tossing out vuvuzelas, or even traversing the pit in his inflatable hamster ball. Lunice and Paul Devro provided a much darker exploration of electronics as the openers.

Photo Notes: It was a crazy night of extremes, with Paul Devro/Lunice playing under minimal lights and the Pageant curtains drawn until Major Lazer’s set. Even with primes at f1.4/1.8, I was still even setting shutter speeds as low as 40/50 to grab any available light (especially during Lunice). Major Lazer’s set was the complete opposite with haze and a brigade of lights more apt to blow out potential shots. A rough night for shooting, but good environment for partying.
