As part of the DEADMEAT Tour, Datsik brought along the dubstep, giving the tracks a sleek and futuristic tinge to match the his logo brightly shining on his station. Under thick colored lights, Mr. Beetles maintained a steady presence behind the computer. Overall, it was a much more subdued performance compared to Aoki’s later set but if the goal is to get the crowd dancing, Datsik still earned an A.
Once the house lights cut out and his quarter-dome station and “AOKI” lights lit up, Steve Aoki basically took the evening to another level serving up the musical madness and being his own hype man. Whenever Aoki’s head disappeared from behind his futuristic platform, anticipation grew to see what the Dim Mak founder had in store, whether it be climbing out of the letter lights or running on stage to shower the crowd with champagne and cranberry juice (and of course deliver birthday cake to one lucky fan).
