Just a few months after headlining a show at the Pageant, Manchester Orchestra was back in St. Louis opening up for Blink-182 and My Chemical Romance. Playing in the bright sun seemed weird for a band so musically moody, but the Atlanta rock band still delivered a killer performance during my time in the photo pit.
The Good: Lead singer Andy Hull coming out in athletic shorts and Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus likening the band to a kickball team. Keyboardist/percussionist Chris Freeman was nearly impossible to shoot the last time, but the wide pit at Verizon allowed for some angles to finally get him. Super easy shoot with the sun still out.
The Bad: The rest of the set wasn’t being shown on the TV in the green room, so I missed out on everything after the first three songs.
The Irrelevant: After their last show, I picked up Simple Math and it’s been thoroughly enjoyed ever since.
