Akron’s finest, The Black Keys, emerged at Kanrocksas to give the crowd at Stageasaurus Rex a dose of their fuzzed out blues rock.
The Good: Dug the set so much that I stuck around for a few more songs after shooting. Carney is a beast on the drums – looking at the timeline of my shots, somewhere along the line he must have rocked off his glasses.
The Bad: The Black Keys probably had the most difficult shoot at Kanrocksas, with thick and hazy color lights being a huge contrast from usual brightly lit outdoor shooting. Rather than fighting the color, I chose to wait for the recurring white lights to do most of my shooting. Finding clear shooting angles of Carney were not easy between the high stage and his drum set.
The Irrelevant: So…what was the significance of the inflatable car tire and Indian head on stage?
