Simply stated, the Minneapolis hip-hop collective, Doomtree, put on one of my favorite performances at Kanrocksas.
The Good: What made it so good? A lot of the smaller acts get swallowed on the huge festival stages and the MCs played it right by taking full advantage of the space (with the group rarely standing still and walking over speakers) and taking the performance to the crowd with Dessa perched on a walkway to deliver her rhymes and the guys (P.O.S., Sims and Mike Mictlan) jumping into the photo pit to perform from the barricades.
The Bad: The crowd was probably a third of the size of D12 earlier in the day and probably off elsewhere scavenging for dinner.
The Irrelevant: Someone please bring Doomtree to St. Louis. Oh wait. Sims, Lazerbeak and Cecil Otter at Cicero’s on 10/2. Boom.
