Last Saturday, I had the great pleasure of being invited by The Dive Poets to shoot their headlining set at the Pageant’s Homegrown Showcase. The last time I saw the twang rockers, they were opening for the Futurebirds in the smaller confines of Cicero’s. This time around at the Pageant, the group took advantage of the bigger stage with ample instrument shredding, being much more rock-oriented than my (horrible) memory recalled from the Cicero’s show.
Whether you were more inclined that evening to dance in the pit or kick back a few beers and enjoy the songs, The Dive Poets definitely provided a great outlet to do so. A quick tour with local musician Beth Bombara is in the works, so for any readers down south, check out their EP (The Good and the Light) and keep an eye out for them coming through your town.
The Dive Poets were also gracious enough to let me hang out with them backstage before the show and snap a few shots. I’ll put those up in an upcoming post, along with pictures from openers Blood Pony and Bo and the Locomotive.
