Mixing the open folk sound of Fleet Foxes with the youthful exuberance of Freelance Whales, the Cleveland-based group The Lighthouse and the Whaler delivered an irresistible set to the Cicero’s crowd.
Their delivery was an interesting balance of variety and cohesiveness, with the group putting forth one distinct sound and voice, no matter how many times members changed instruments or changed positions. With their single “White Days” starting to get noticed, it might not be long before their nautical themed name starts popping up even more on the music blogosphere.

Random Notes:
-Their self-titled debut album is available on the usual outlets, but maybe consider buying it on their Bandcamp page? It’s actually the cheapest option and your money goes directly to the guys.
-The crowd featured some representatives of local music authorities IWTAS and KDHX, which is surely indicative of a worthwhile show. IWTAS did a write-up of the show w/pics here.
-Check out Kate McDaniel’s pictures of the evening.
