It was just about a year ago that I got my first experience of the behemoth that is My Morning Jacket. The last show was somehow contained within The Pageant. This time around it was a bigger party as the Peabody Opera House opened its doors to welcome the Louisville band, along with the powerful sounds of Band of Horses.

It’s that time of the year. But before we run down this first installment of my favorite shows attended this year, I wanted to give a huge thanks to everyone that I’ve met through this crazy hobby. STL has some great venues, photographers, reviewers, bloggers, music nerds, venue staff, etc… It’s been great knowing you all. As well, special thanks to KDHX, Eleven Magazine, Speakers in Code, and I Shoot Shows for the fun assignments and every PR contact that was kind enough to take a chance on me.

Story time! Back when I was just starting off in the working world, a coworker originally from Louisville kept suggesting I check out My Morning Jacket. Oddly enough, it only took me nearly a decade to heed his advice, deciding to try out their latest release, Circuital. It’s slowly become one of my favorite releases this year, so their return to St. Louis at the Pageant was a must-see.
