Based solely on their promo picture, I had no idea what to expect from local band Blood Pony.
No lasers. Sorry.
But Blood Pony does offer up a brigade of guitars, percussion, strings brought together under Jim Walker’s vocals. With so many instruments, Blood Pony’s sound is rich and full-bodied and seems to swell and crescendo at the right times. If you see their name pop up as the opening act for for alt-country / folk acts coming through, treat yourself to a fun show and check them out.
Opening for Breathe Owl Breathe at Off Broadway.

You’re probably doing a good job if most of the crowd is dancing. And that’s what I walked into as I came in mid-set for the local band, The Dive Poets. A little country, a little rock, a lot of feet moving and even more smiles on the faces in the crowd. Good vibes all around. More talk from the band here.
Definitely a solid opener for The Futurebirds. Check out their picture set here.

The Great Outdoors looked really familiar. Then I realized I had seen them before under their previous incarnation, Leaking Africa. Their new album, Board Up Our Homes, is out right now. Check it out.
Opening for Lovedrug and All the Day Holiday. Check out more pics of The Great Outdoors after the jump.
