Bear in Heaven made their return to the Luminary Arts, just days before their release of I Love You, It’s Cool.
I opted for date night with my wife, so I missed the Doldrums’ set and made it to the venue somewhere in the middle of Young Magic‘s performance. Psychedelic video played over similar feeling tracks with a tinge of world sound to it. It was hard for me to pinpoint, but feel free to check out their recent release Melt to get a better handle on it.

Bear in Heaven were ready to party with the Luminary crowd and wasn’t going to let them be content to just nod along from afar, prompting Jon Philpot to ask for the front row’s assistance to help break down a part of the stage. With the audience now only a foot or two away, the Brooklyn trio was ready to unleash their music. New tracks like the soaring “Idle Heart” were tossed out to fans anxious for the new album, while still devoting time to more familiar Beast Rest Forth Mouth material. Still, the highlight of the night had to be Jon Philpot taking some time out of a song to dance along in the front row. I think I saw a little running man action.
